Managing the health challenges of moving to free-range egg production

More than 200 US retailers have agreed to switch to free-range egg production by 2025.

The move will bring major challenges to the way birds are produced, but it will also mean big shifts in the ways bird health and welfare need to be managed.

Experts from across the industry talked to Poultry Health Today about the challenges producers switching to free-range systems face in terms of maintaining flock health.

More importantly, they identify the management practices producers will need to adopt if they’re going to ensure their birds remain healthy and productive.
