Two symposia on poultry enteric disease set stage for 2018 AAAP Conference

Playicon

Two symposia focused on enteric disease in poultry will be held immediately prior to the 2018 American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) annual conference set for this July in Denver.

Both pre-conference events reflect the industry’s growing concerns about managing enteric disease while reducing or eliminating antibiotics, Suzanne Dougherty, DVM, executive vice president, AAAP, told Poultry Health Today.

The 2nd International Necrotic Enteritis Symposium will be held July 11-12. The  impetus for this 2-day event was a successful conference held in Denmark in 2015, which generated considerable interest worldwide.

On Friday, July 13, AAAP will host a half-day symposium, “Advances in the Management of Enteric Health in Poultry,” which will look at current and new management strategies for controlling coccidiosis and other enteric disease in broilers and turkeys.

Dougherty emphasized that both enteric disease symposia will present new research and information.

The AAAP’s 61st annual conference begins the next day and runs through July 17. The program offers more than 50 scientific presentations and posters on a wide range of poultry health topics.
