CDC releases progress report on food safety

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) report last week indicating that rates of Salmonella recently declined slightly, but otherwise foodborne illness rates remain largely unchanged.

According to the latest edition of Influence Feed, the story prompted New York University nutritionist Marion Nestle and food safety attorney Bill Marler to warn that this is not good news.
